I'm cheering from Vienna,
I'm cheering from Vienna, Austria. Do you guys know if the B-Society is well known within the german speaking parts in Europe?
I really wanna support the B's and I'm thinking about to start a german speaking version of the B-Society. So I'm looking for people who might be interested to join the project.
Austalian Bs
I heard about the B Society on ABC Radio National last week. Does anyone know if there is a B society movement in Australia?
I have always been a B person who works at my best late into the evening and struggles with every early morning. I have twin daughters, who have never been early risers either. We work well together but not within the structures of school/work etc.
I have always been put down as lazy or even inferior for not being up with the birds and staying up late. "A" people's self perceived superiority has always really got up my nose!
I am totally wrapped to hear of the B society.

Australian Bs
I'm also an Australian B...or should we call ourselves OzzieBees? Great to find a group where my sleep rhythms are NORMAL! I've been a night owl since I was a teen, probably earlier. Usually couldn't fall asleep til 1 or 2am and slept solidly for 9 hours on weekends. About 10years ago I did shift work for 6 years & then back to 9-5 and coupling this with some other health/life crises, my night-owl rhythm has gone completely whacky. Can't get to sleep before 5am without sleeping medication. Also have trouble staying asleep. These days I work only three days a week starting at 1pm. I love being a B but would be glad to get back to 1-2am sleeptime & 9 lovely unbroken hours of zzzzzzzzzzz

Awesome!
Well I did NOT learn about the B-Society from BBC, but hey, at least I got here! Both my husband and I are B people -- not as severely as some I've read posts from here, but still, by nature, we are definately Bs. Our favorite jobs schedule-wise were 2nd shift or working at nightclubs. I get up early these days (as in, 4:30am!!! Ugh!) but it takes two alarm clocks and 30 minutes of snooze-button smashing to do it. My whole goal in life is to become self-employed so I can sleep past 10am!
So very glad to know that we are not alone, and that we are not freaks! Awesome!
(PS We live in the US, in North Florida to be accurate.)

I'm a Finn
I am a Finn, living in Finland. I can read the Danish page because of my ability to speak Swedish (and therefore understand both Danish and Norwegian). There might even be a page in Swedish in Sweden. B-Society hasn't been established in Finland yet, so I'll have to settle with international pages. I really haven't got any time to start them here since I'm currently working and writing my thesis.
We start work and school in Finland at 8.00. a.m. Starting at 9 a.m. would be luxurious for most of us. I'd prefer to work from 10 a.m. on...
getting up early...the stuff of nightmares!
Hi all, how reassuring to finally know that my sleep patterns are not down to laziness. I could quite happily switch my life to a 'back-shift' pattern - 2pm-10pm is my dream! Getting up to start work at 9am every day is absolutely awful. I have been like this since primary school with similar experiences to the ones many of you talk about on the forums. I heard about the B-society through the BBC website too, and it was such a relief to know that something like this exists. I am currently studying to change my profession so I can become self-employed - it seems to be about the only way to get working hours that really suit me. Even flexi-time is not flexible enough. I'm in the UK.
Mobile, Alabama
I have always been a "night" person even when I was little. I am at present a student working on a teaching certificate in order to teach Jr. College--I am more than willing to teach all the night classes! Which actually give me job security.
I read about the website on the BBC. I told my mother about it (she is a very AM person) but she didnt seem to understand why we love the idea of this website.
This semester I was able to take all my clases in the evening..what a dream!
New
Was Born in the UK but have been living in Singapore for the last 7 years, a great place to live but they make me start work at 8am!!! I have always found it tuff waking up, so much so that I have 3 alarms, one buy my bed, my mobile phone and another really loud and nasty sounding alarm in the bathroom, all this just to get up at 7am.
re: International users
Hi there
I was born in Portugal, have lived in the UK for over 10 years and now having a break in New Zealand.
I am a doctor and have always struggled with alarms and early stars. Thankfully shift work has allowed me to work in more natural hours...As I have always been a night owl and never an early bird!
I even wondered initially if it had anything to do with being born in the wrong hemisphere or simply be lazy.
So glad I found you !
New
I lived in the metro New York City area all my life, and I was shocked to find even more of a bias against B-people in western Pennsylvania. I don't work on a farm, I work in retail, all the night hours that the A-people don't want. Still, some of my co-workers make comments about the night shift, like they believe the most important or best work is done before 8am. We aren't even open at 8am!
I don't get it. you think they'd be grateful we were there, to do things when they were unable.

America
I am in America, in San Antonio to be more specific. I read about B people like many of you on the BBC News website. What a great thing this website is.. and the society for B People. I, too, know how much it hurts to be misunderstood simply for not being a morning person. As a child I could never sleep at night. I take a sleep aid now and bedtime is usually around 2 am. I can't function in the mornings without tea and a long period of waking up.
It's wonderful to hear your stories because I can relate to them all. We are not lazy or unintelligent; I for one am also published in 2 countries, well-travelled, educated and a member of the National Scholars Honour Society (not that it makes me special, but I'm no fool either, is my point). Well, sorry to go on. I for one appreciate this site, the society, and every one of YOU for sharing your personal stories.

Oscar Wilde's the man isn't he? My fave quote, which I have on a coffee mug, is "Only dull people are brilliant at breakfast"!

B all over the world
Hey,
I'm the founder of the B-society.
It's our ambition to change the society so it fits its people. We will transform the structures and institutions from the industrial society.
In Denmark there will be a B-high school after the summer holiday and we have started to B-certificate companies so that it will be possible for the B-persons to navigate in the job market.
We will unite flexibility, productivity and life quality.
• We will create a flexible society which support both A- and B-people.
• We will make it possible for almost everyone to work in their own rhythm.
• We will make it possible for almost everyone to have a good life quality.
Join the B-revolution. Start up a B-society in your own country.

I found out about the B Society from a interview on BBC Radio Five Live's, 'Up All Night' show.
Seemed to describe me well, I feel brain dead until about 1pm.

Geographical Check-In
I am Canadian but living in California. About the only thing I like less than mornings are freezing temperatures.
In fact, I believe it is having to get up at 5am in the dark and go out to deliver newspapers in -30C weather as a teen that stimulated my genetic predisposition to dislike mornings.
Certainly the improved weather conditions have done little to resolve my aversions. Strangly both my parents and both my sisters are A-people, but my wife and 2 of my 3 children are B-people.
It must be a recessive gene.

I'm Canadian but resident in Scotland (for the time being) and as some of the others, found this site through the BBC website. Brilliant stuff and I can't wait to publicise it on my own blog for my friends to join as well. (well, those who are B-people anyway! =))
Norway
I'm in Norway, so I can read the Danish pages. Good to see that the international page finally is getting some action.
