Work

I've lived my entire life (so far) cursed by being a, 'B person' when it comes to work and dealing with other, 'officialdom'.

People just say I'm lazy because I find mornings such hard work.

Getting away with it

I have a job where I don't need to be at my desk before noon. I'm a manager in a software firm based in Europe but headquarted in the US, so my unorthodox schedule actually works out well in terms of the hours of overlap with the US office, where I'm thought to be incredibly committed ;). I do work hard, but that particular acclaim is unwarrented.

Many people with whom I discuss this arrangement think I'm incredibly lucky to "get away with it". Two things strike me about this: firstly, the automatic assumption is that my late arrival to work represents a form of decadence. Secondly, the implicit envy on the part of those who wish that they could have a lie-in too.

I see a phenomenal challenge in getting those who lie in the spectrum between A and B to accept that daily cycles could be alternately structured.

Not easy to be different

Mr6, that's tough. But the question is: did you believe them?

I've always been considered weird for falling asleep at school, at work and in public places (after being up most of the night) but I did't let that bother me.

Ever since (about 15 years ago) I figured out I had a longer-than-24-hour sleep rhythm I've insisted on following it. Of course that's always easier if you're retired, unemployed, self-employed, free-lance or have a night job. Would the latter be an option for you?

I found it fantastic to actually get paid extra for working when my body & mind was most alert! (In my world people should be paid extra for getting up early!)

Double posting

Edit: As my first reply didn't appear, I wrote another one. Just removing one of them.
